Claire Sherwood

Home Manager

“Claire is the Director of The Willow Community and the Registered Manager of Hythe View Nursing Home. The Willow Community is a collaborative partnership between Hythe View Nursing Home and Betsy Clara Nursing Home both specialising in complex and specialist nursing placements.

Claire began her career in health and social care in 2009 and has since developed extensive experience across a range of senior, operational and specialist roles. These include Registered Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Area Manager for South Essex, Trusted Assessor and Discharge Lead, working across Kent and Essex hospitals. This experience provided Claire with a comprehensive understanding of service delivery, quality governance, financial sustainability and system wide working across health and social care.

Claire has held registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) since 2017 and has successfully led services through inspections, improving, achieving and sustaining regulatory compliance across all key areas.

Claire is also trained as an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Link Practitioner, providing a direct link between the services she leads and NHS IPC governance frameworks. This role supports best practice in infection prevention, strengthens clinical oversight and ensures alignment with national guidance to protect residents, staff and visiting professionals. Claire has also co chaired the Skills for Care, Registered Manager Network.

Currently, Claire is undertaking a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management and Leadership in Healthcare with plans to complete a further Master’s Degree in Adult Social Care, alongside a Doctorate in Strategic Management and Leadership in Healthcare. She is deeply committed to continuous professional development and evidence based leadership.

Above all, Claire champions a culture of kindness, support and collaboration, ensuring teams feel valued and empowered to deliver safe, compassionate and high quality care to every individual and family they support.”

“I began my career in 2003 as a community care worker after caring for both my grandmothers. I qualified as a nurse in 2010 and immediately joined community services. I progressed to District Nurse Team Leader in 2013 and was promoted in 2015 to Clinical Nurse Manager for Complex Care and End-of-Life services, where I developed CHC funded models enabling advanced care including for ventilated patients, to be delivered at home. I led the creation of training programs, clinical SOPs, and scalable care frameworks, and supported external providers in adopting this model.

In 2019, I joined a European research project adapting the Buurtzorg model for the UK, focused on self-managing nursing teams and patient-centred community care. As a coach, and later Lead Coach, I oversaw the implementation of this model in Medway and helped transform organisational practice while presenting our findings at national conferences. In 2023, I joined Hythe View and was promoted to Deputy Manager where I lead the Clinical team and Complex behavioural care suite.”

Daniel Harrison

Resident Experience Support Manager

“My name is Dan and I am the Home Administrator at Hythe View, I joined the company in April 2022 after a decade in the travel industry including stints as cabin crew and a Commercial Manager for a tour operator. I had the opportunity to travel extensively but these days, I’m much happier with my feet on my ground as I’m dad to two boys and a dog!

When I was a child, my grandma would often take me to the care home where she worked. When I as a teenager my Mum went to University and trained to become a Nurse. During the COVID-19 Pandemic I worked as a carer and realised how hard but rewarding care work is. I’m so happy to be a part of the team here at Hythe View.”

“I’m the head of housekeeping at Hythe View, where I’ve worked for four years.

I’m proud to lead a great team and take real pride in creating a warm welcoming home for our residents. I enjoy spending time with our residents and making sure they feel comfortable and at home.

Before this I spent 14 years in sales developing strong people skills I use every day.

Outside of work I’m a busy mum to two boys. I love spending time with my family and making memories.”
